Naibao Zhao

Naibao Zhao is an Associate Professor of Economics (with tenure) at the Research Institute of Economics and Management (RIEM), Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in Chengdu, China.
His primary research field is empirical microeconomics, which integrates economic theory with empirical evidence through rigorous econometric analysis to investigate policy-relevant questions. Specifically, his research spans a broad spectrum of topics including empirical industrial organization, labor/health/education, and household finance. Currently, he is focused on studying the interactions between human capital investment (both private and public), dynamics of returns to education, and upward/social mobility in China.
Zhao received his Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University in 2018 and his B.Eng. from Shenzhen University in 2006.
