Zachary Ward is the Herman Lay Chair of Private Enterprise and Associate Professor of Economics at Baylor University, where he has been on the faculty since 2018. He is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic History at the Australian National University.

Professor Ward’s research focuses on migration, intergenerational mobility, and labor markets in American economic history. His work examines the long-run economic assimilation of immigrants, the dynamics of internal and international migration, and patterns of economic mobility across generations and racial groups. His research has been published in leading journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Economic History, Journal of Human Resources, and American Economic Journal: Applied Economics.

Ward received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2014 and his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Wheaton College in 2008.
