Kegon Tan is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. His interests are in the formation and intergenerational transmission of human capital, and social inequality more broadly. His research investigates multiple mechanisms through which parents affect their children, both in early and late life. He is also engaged in studying how disparities and inequalities are generated by underlying differences in skills, family background, as well as potential discrimination. Investigating methods that can close these gaps are of special interest.
Tan received his B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Chicago in 2010 and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017.
