Alessandra Fogli is a monetary advisor and assistant director in the Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Fogli earned her Bachelor’s Degree summa cum laude from Università Bocconi in Milan and received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining the Minneapolis Fed, Fogli was an assistant professor at New York University and the University of Minnesota, a visiting professor at EIEF, and an associate professor at Università Bocconi in Milan. Fogli is also a faculty research fellow of the Center for Economic and Policy Research.

Her research explores how an individual’s social context, including family, neighborhood, and school, as well as society at large, affects economic behavior and in turn aggregate economic outcomes. Fogli’s research has been published in Econometrica, Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Journal, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of the European Economic Association, and NBER International Seminar on Macroeconomics.
