Moshe Buchinsky is a Full Professor of Economics at Sciences Po, specializing in econometrics, labor economics, and public finance. Before joining Sciences Po in 2021, he was a Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he is now Professor Emeritus. His research develops econometric tools and applies them to labor market dynamics, wage distribution, and public finance, with a particular focus on quantile regression. His seminal contributions to quantile regression have been instrumental in analyzing changes in wage distribution, wage mobility, and returns to experience and seniority.

Buchinsky’s work has been published in leading economics journals, including Econometrica, The Review of Economic Studies, The Journal of Labor Economics, and The Journal of Econometrics. He has served as an editor and associate editor for several major journals, including The Journal of Labor Economics, Quantitative Economics, and The Journal of Econometrics. He is affiliated with multiple research centers, including the Stanford Center for the Study of Poverty and Inequality, the California Center for Population Research, and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

In addition to his academic career, Buchinsky has been a consultant for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and has provided expert analysis in labor and employment litigation, particularly in cases involving age, race, and gender discrimination. He has held visiting professorships at Harvard University, the University of California, San Diego, and the University Carlos III of Madrid, where he held the Chair of Excellence in 2014.

Buchinsky earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and his M.A. in Economics and Statistics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
